Shaun White Busted In Nashville For Criminal Vandalism, Public Intoxication
Early in the morning hours last Sunday, 2 time gold medalist and X Games superstar, Shaun “The Flying Tomato” White was caught outside the Loews Vanderbilt Hotel. White was detained at the resort near Two in the morning and consequently charged with intoxication and vandalism, having created a chaotic scene around the resort that night. He had to be transported to the emergency room right before he got processed since he sustained a black eye during an altercation with yet another resort guest who tried to hinder the snowboarder from fleeing the chaotic scene. This is apparently not the only time Mr. White has acted out carelessly after getting drunk, however it’s his first arrest. He may want to check himself in to a residential rehab center as a way to get his own habits in check, or at least seek help from an aftercare program such as AA for a while.
The Resort Episode
According to law enforcement affidavits and eye witness accounts, Mr. White was quite intoxicated and was creating problems around the hotel. White apparently got drunk and believed it’d be entertaining to pull the fire alarm in the resort. Right after the alarm the hotel needed to be evacuated until finally firemen gave the notice that it was a false alarm. Right after pulling the fire alarm, Shaun attempted to escape the chaotic scene but was caught by some other guest of the hotel and during a small fight, suffered a black eye in a collision with the gentleman. When law enforcement showed up, they gave Mr. white the chance to sign a written violation for a misdemeanor, however he denied and was then issued an arrest warrant and taken to the police station to be booked. White was released on Monday afternoon on his own recognizance and he’s slated to appear in court on October 10 to handle his misdemeanor charges, which will likely just be a fine.
Following his own discharge from arrest, Mr. white released an apology early Tuesday morning to all of his friends, loved ones, and supporters. He posted this announcement to his Facebook page:”I want to apologize for the unwise choices I made over the weekend and for any inconvenience it caused my family, friends, business partners, the hotel, and their guests. I was celebrating a happy occasion with a ton of family and friends and got carried away. I’m truly sorry for my poor behavior.” Getting carried away is surely an understatement considering the entire resort had to be cleared out at 2 in the morning.
This specific recent arrest was White’s first, however this conduct is all too familiar with well-known young sports figures and hollywood stars. Close to the same time Shaun was in jail, Amanda Bynes was in fact having her own car revoked from her after a number of problems in the last few months. Teenage stars are actually getting cracked down on for alcohol and drug abuse these days and police are not giving nearly as many exclusive privileges that they did years ago. Hopefully Shaun is going to seek residential rehab or perhaps an aftercare program to get help with his issues.
